What Are Support Groups?

Support groups are safe, confidential spaces where people with shared experiences come together to talk, listen, and heal. Led by a trained facilitator or therapist, these groups allow participants to share openly, gain insight from others, and feel understood — often for the first time.

At Calida Rehab, support groups are woven into our inpatient and outpatient programs, covering topics like addiction recovery, mental health management, trauma, grief, family stress, and relapse prevention. Whether you're a patient or a family member, there's a group designed for you.

Who Should Join a Support Group?

  • People recovering from addiction or dual diagnosis
  • Individuals coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, or PTSD
  • Clients feeling isolated, ashamed, or misunderstood
  • Family members, spouses, or caregivers supporting someone in recovery
  • Anyone who benefits from community, connection, and shared healing

Why Choose Calida Rehab's Support Groups?

At Calida Rehab, support groups are more than just gatherings — they're lifelines. We create spaces that are inclusive, non-judgmental, and therapeutic, where clients and families can share honestly and heal collectively.

  • All groups are led by licensed therapists, counselors, or recovery coaches
  • Sessions follow structured themes but remain flexible and emotionally responsive
  • Confidentiality and psychological safety are strictly maintained
  • Participants connect with others who truly "get it."
  • Listening to shared stories builds empathy, resilience, and self-acceptance.
  • Clients often form ongoing support networks that last beyond treatment.
  • Addiction Recovery Support Groups – 12-step and non-12-step formats
  • Mental Health Support Groups – For depression, anxiety, trauma, grief
  • Family & Caregiver Groups – To support those affected by a loved one's illness
  • Aftercare & Alumni Circles – For long-term recovery support
  • Daily and weekly groups integrated into inpatient, outpatient, and online care.
  • Separate tracks for men, women, adolescents, and caregivers
  • Facilitated in English, Hindi, or regional languages as needed

What to Expect in a Support Group at Calida

Whether you're attending for the first time or returning after a long break, Calida's support groups offer a warm, respectful, and non-clinical space for healing. You'll find that just being heard without judgment can be deeply therapeutic — and listening to others may shift your perspective.

  • Group size is kept small for comfort and intimacy.
  • Participants agree to ground rules, including respect, privacy, and no cross-talk.
  • No one is forced to speak — sharing is encouraged, never pressured.
  • Led by trained therapists or certified peer counselors
  • Sessions often follow a theme (e.g., "Handling Cravings," "Dealing with Guilt")
  • Facilitators ensure the group stays supportive, inclusive, and focused
  • People share stories of relapse, growth, fears, grief, or hope.
  • Common formats include check-ins, discussion prompts, and mindfulness moments.
  • Over time, participants develop trust, insight, and emotional strength.
  • Daily support groups for residential clients
  • Weekly outpatient groups for local clients or aftercare participants
  • Family evenings and couple support circles
  • Virtual sessions available via secure video calls

Support Groups at Calida Rehab – FAQs

No. While many of our groups are part of inpatient and outpatient programs, some groups are open to alumni, families, or individuals in the community who want ongoing support.

That's okay. There's no pressure to share. Many people attend just to listen and still find tremendous comfort in hearing others' stories. Over time, you may feel ready to speak at your own pace.

We do offer 12-Step style groups, but also provide non-12-step, therapist-led sessions for those who prefer alternative models. The focus is always on emotional safety and peer support.

Absolutely. We encourage family healing. Weekly caregiver groups and educational family sessions help loved ones understand the healing process and build healthier relationships.

Support groups are included in most inpatient and outpatient treatment plans. Community-based or alumni sessions may be free or offered at a minimal fee. Please contact us for specific availability.
